This is not my first robot vacuum, but it is now my favorite!
I love that it doesn’t have the sensor sticking out of the top. This allows it to clean under furniture without getting stuck like other models do. I’m also a fan of the compactor style so I don’t have a bulky base in the middle of a room.
Mapping was quiet, easy, quick & effective. I just wish iRobot had the option to delete a room or area rather than only no-go zones. I have a split level home and it maps rooms on other floors (great sensors but I don’t want that on my map).
I ran it on carpet that had been vacuumed with a competitive robot vacuum 2 days ago and it did a much better job than the competitor. It is a little louder but a lot more powerful.
Also a big fan of the app letting me know the health of every component, taking the guess-work out of when it’s time to replace them!
The sleek, low-profile design paired with the suction power and effective paths make this a great robot vacuum for anyone in the market for one!

This is the second Roomba I’ve purchased, this time for my parents, and it’s been totally worth it. They’re elderly and appreciate that the Roomba doesn’t need to be emptied often — that’s a huge plus for them. The dust compactor feature really makes a difference compared to their older model; it can go several cleanings before needing attention.
It’s quiet, navigates well around furniture, and doesn’t get stuck as much as the older versions did. The setup was straightforward, and I love that I can check in or schedule cleanings for them through the app when I visit. It even does a surprisingly good job picking up pet hair and crumbs on both hardwood floors and carpets.
If you’re buying for someone who values ease of use and minimal maintenance, this is a fantastic choice. It’s made my parents’ daily routine a little easier.

So far so good. Seems more advanced than our 9 year old model 980s. Quieter and the LIDAR is much more accurate than the camera on the 980 is. It even navigates in the dark. The 980s get lost a lot if the room is not well lit.
The setup takes a bit longer as you have to map the room a few times to get it to move to the next step. It found the wifi and connected better than the 980s did when they were new but not as good as the 980 in maintaining the wifi connection. I have a whole house mesh system and the robot is rarely more than 9 meters away from an access point. Hopefully they improve the wifi sensitivity.
The App is promising but still quite buggy because it thinks the robot is docked and ready when it loses wifi for a minute or two under some dense furniture. I like how it paints the map showing where it has cleaned. It also added added a room that didn’t exist and the map editor doesn’t let me remove it so I just split it from the adjoining room. It would be nice to be able to delete a room as I ran down the battery trying to get it to remap over and over again but stopped when I had a workable map and just split off the virtual room.
I haven’t had to empty the bin yet as I’ve only had it for a week so I can’t say how effective the compactor is but the 980 would have needed to be emptied at least once by now. So it’s definitely an improvement of the 980s and I’m glad we held off buying the ones with the ugly dust collecting dock with bags you have to keep buying. I hope it lives as long as the 980s do because they are tanks and easy to repair. In a few weeks we’ll order another one for the main floor is all continues to go well. I just hope they stay on getting the bugs out of the app.

My little helper! –
I live a busy life! I work long hours and when I’m off I rest. So having my iRobot Roomba to help me out with vacuuming is a major help. It is super easy to set up. Just scan a barcode and i was setting up my schedule. Yes! I set it to clean even when I’m not home. A easy to use app and a click of a button, my whole house is clean. Its very intelligent and maps the entire house and it doesn’t a awesome job. Best part about it, I can tell it which room to clean. Its easy to empty and it doesn’t get tangled. Its super intelligent!

Won’t Replace Your Maid, But Lessens Work –
Wonderfully minimal out of box experience, with only three foam pads to remove, a few clear stickers to remove from sensors, and a five-step setup diagram to follow. An extra disposable air filter cartridge is included, along with a warranty and safety guide of dubious value. It’s otherwise all assembled for you. The set-up diagrams are intuitive, and end with a QR code for the app you’ll need (NEED!) to set up and run your Roomba. No phone, no Roomba. Set up was touch and go. Figuring out how to exactly, precisely, painfully line up the dock’s charging points to the contacts under the Roomba took a YouTube video before I talked myself out of boxing it back up and sending it back. The app downloaded painlessly from a QR code on the box and led me through a period of doubt while it told me repeatedly that “Roomba had trouble updating” and charging stuck inordinately long on 52%. You can’t begin to make your first map until these happen, so…I waited overnight. Finally the app seemed ready to make it’s first map, though it now had a 44% charge. Go figure, but do go before this thing changes its mind again! I took the photos and the pathetic video of this thing wedging itself between chair legs while it was in it’s learning phase. You still have to prepare the area for it, almost as much work as a normal vacuuming session. I’ve learned it can’t handle stray clothes or dangling wires, and it’s learning it can’t explore endlessly and stick itself in nooks and crannies. So improvement. It’s now a touch up tool between manual cleanings, and keeps the embarrassing detritus down. It maps out continuous areas as one room, and though an update supposedly allows you to edit the area covered, I can’t make it work. This is important, because I cannot finish even a major portion of my 2700 square foot house without the battery running out and it returning—or trying to return—to base for a recharge. It won’t start again without a prompt, either. Sometimes it won’t charge even close to 100 percent. For large, open hard floor surfaces this could be much more effective, but less so in cluttered lived in homes. All in all, it’s a tool in your housekeeping arsenal, but not a super weapon

The iRobot Roomba 205 is a solid entry-level robotic vacuum that delivers convenience and reliable cleaning performance for everyday use. If you’re someone who wants to maintain clean floors without constant vacuuming, this little robot can make a big difference in your routine. Setup is quick and user-friendly—right out of the box, it’s easy to get started. The Roomba 205 navigates well around furniture and transitions smoothly between different floor types, including hardwood, tile, and low-pile carpet. While it doesn’t come with smart mapping or app connectivity like higher-end models, it uses a set pattern to cover your space effectively. It may miss a few spots now and then, but with regular use, your floors will stay tidy. The suction power is surprisingly strong for its size and price point. It picks up dust, pet hair, and small debris efficiently, and the edge-sweeping brush helps clean along baseboards and in corners. The dustbin is a decent size and easy to empty, though it may need to be cleaned frequently if you have pets. Battery life is sufficient for small to medium spaces, offering about an hour of runtime before returning to its charging dock. It doesn’t have scheduling or voice control features, but for basic automated cleaning, it performs reliably. The Roomba 205 is best for those who want a budget-friendly robotic vacuum without all the bells and whistles. It’s a great starter model, especially for apartments or smaller homes. While it lacks some smart features, it gets the job done with minimal hassle. Overall, the iRobot Roomba 205 is a dependable, easy-to-use vacuum that provides solid performance and keeps your floors looking fresh with minimal effort.

Small Wonder!! –
Yes!! It is a small wonder. I do vacuum, but adding this iRobot 205 makes my life easy. As I can schedule the cleaning, I am utilizing my time for myself. The vacuum power is good. The best part of the iRobot 205 is that it cleans areas like the corners of walls, beneath the sofa, and the bed, where a normal vacuum cleaner or even a stick vacuum cleaner cannot reach. I would recommend the iRobot 205.

Over the years, I have experiment with various robot vacuum brands. Roomba has consistently exceeded my expectations. Its ability to navigate effectively, clean carpets, rugs and tile is remarkable notably. It excels at cleaning corners, a feature that surpasses other robot vacuums. The DustCompactor feature is particularly advantageous for households with pets, as it minimizes the need for daily vacuuming. In my household of seven furry companions, the Roomba vacuum requires emptying every three weeks, compared to my other vacuums, which necessitate daily empty. The home mapping feature is highly beneficial. If the vacuum fails to complete cleaning before it charge is depleted, it returns to the charge base, recharges and then resumes cleaning from the point of failure, ensuring thorough cleaning. The vacuum’s sleek design harmonize well with various home aesthetics

This is a very smart robot vacuum. I’m really impressed on how it will map out your entire house and then vacuum up it’s path that it mapped out. It knows how to go home. A push of the button will send it home it’ll talk to you (female) and it has a nice chime. It vacuums up nicely. It’ll also work on hardwood floors as well as carpet. I think plug-in vacuums are a little bit more powerful but this is good for maintenance and the right circumstances. It’s definitely convenient I think that’s what I’m paying for at least. Getting it to connect to Wi-Fi and downloading its updates was tricky when using the app. It took me several tries I wish it was more user friendly especially for first time users that don’t know how to use robot vacuums. The price is a little bit high unless money is not a factor so with all that being said I rate this product three and a half stars out of 5. And I do recommend this product especially for the right person and household.

A WONDERFUL Tidying Tool –
I have always been skeptical of getting one of these types of vacuums. I have a young kid at home and figured they would never be able to navigate around ‘real life’ as much as I would need. I’m very pleased to say, however, that I was wrong! I’m most pleased with the power it has when cleaning as well as its ability to automatically maneuver around normal household items. It can have some challenges with stray cords, but you can also use its app to easily restrict specific areas. It is much more programmable than I expected. You can choose between spot, light, normal and deep cleaning and it detects the type of floor it is on and adjusts its power and suction accordingly. The app is also very fun when it comes to tracking and finding it. Its design is also remarkable. The height of the Roomba allows for it to go where normal vacuums struggle to. Additionally, it has smart programming and can auto raise, lower as well as speed through certain obstacles, when it needs to. The ‘dust compactor’ is another positive feature. Being able to easily empty after several sessions is very handy. One area of improvement that I would suggest is its battery. I may have simply received a unit that has an imperfect battery, but I feel like it charges fairly slowly and can run out of battery quickly. I don’t have a large house but need to charge it for several hours between each floor if I do anything beyond the ‘light clean’ option. It can also sometimes have a hard time detecting where it started from, if you moved the charging station. I originally set this up upstairs but now mostly use it downstairs. It still thinks the charger is upstairs so sends an ‘error’ that it can’t find the charger when it finishes the lower level. That being said, I do REALLY like that it has the technology built in to have multiple ‘floor maps’ that you can use to easily let it know which part of the house it is in. I now wish I got the one that does the mopping, too, as I think it does a fantastic job of cleaning!

Best Robot Owned –
